Navigation and anti-collision training available to Filipino seafarers

MANILA, Oct. 6 (PNA) — One of Japan’s largest shipping companies, “K”-Line, has announced it is willing to give navigation and anti-collision training to Filipino seafarers interested in working for huge merchant marine fleet.

The shipping company said the training will be done on its newly-constructed facility in Pasay which is equipped with state-of-the-art simulators and has the capacity to train 10,000 seamen trainees annually.

A modern clinic fully furnished with modern medical equipment is also installed to look after the health of prospective seafarer trainees

”K”-Line said Filipino sailors enrolled in the program will be given intensive anti-collision and grounding training, and shiphandling in congested and narrow waterways by very experienced instructors.

The shipping firm decided to include anti-collision training in its training syllabus for its prospective crews as the incidents of collision worldwide have skyrocketed through the years.(PNA)
