WB establishes knowledge devt center in a university in Iloilo
ILOILO
CITY Oct 1 (PNA) – The World Bank recently inaugurated its P500,000
Knowledge Development Center filled with audio visual equipment and
books it has established inside the Henry Luce library of the Central
Philippine University (CPU), the oldest Christian university in Western
Visayas.
World Bank (WB) country director Bert Hoffman led the inauguration of the center, which is now open to public for research use.
The center contains the WB report of all its researches and projects undertaken in the Philippines since 1957.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, who was also one of the guests during the inauguration on Friday, lauded the project.
He
said the city has been a recipient of several projects from the Bank,
including a grant for its computerization project and feasibility study
for the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) on how to better improve the
water situation in the city.
There is also the proposed disaster risk reduction management project that would equip the city on responding to disasters.
“World Bank is supportive of the several efforts of the city,” the mayor said.
