Puerto Princesa hosts Mutya ng Pilipinas on Dec. 7

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Oct. 3 (PNA) -- Puerto Princesa will host the coronation night of the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2008 on Dec. 7.

Last Sept. 30, Roberto de Venecia, president of Mutya ng Pilipinas, led the launch of the said beauty pageant at the Grand Terrace on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

The pageant finalists will flown in here as early as November 27 for pre-pageant activities.

Mayor Edward Hagedorn expressed his excitement about the hosting the event.

Puerto Princesa is the perfect setting for yet another beautiful natural resource---the beauty and grace of the Filipina”, Hagedorn said.

Earlier, the City Council led by Vice Mayor Lucilo Bayron approved the resolution authorizing Hagedorn to enter a memorandum of agreement for sponsorship between the city government and Mutya ng Pilipinas Incorporated (MPI).

The said measure is in support to the vision of Hagedorn to promote tourism industry in the city.

Councilor Feliberto Oliveros said that being the host of the event is considered a big achievement for the city mayor who wants the city to become the No. 1 tourist destination and sports capital of the Philippines.

Beauty contestants will vie for the titles Mutya ng Pilippinas International, Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism Puerto Princesa and Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas Communities.

They will represent the country in international contests such as Miss Asia Pacific International, Miss International, Tourism Queen of the Year and Miss International. (PNA)
