Puerto Princesa hosts Mutya ng Pilipinas on Dec. 7
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Oct. 3 (PNA) -- Puerto Princesa will host the coronation night of the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2008 on Dec. 7.
Last
Sept. 30, Roberto de Venecia, president of Mutya ng Pilipinas, led the
launch of the said beauty pageant at the Grand Terrace on Commonwealth
Avenue in Quezon City.
The pageant finalists will flown in here as early as November 27 for pre-pageant activities.
Mayor Edward Hagedorn expressed his excitement about the hosting the event.
Puerto
Princesa is the perfect setting for yet another beautiful natural
resource---the beauty and grace of the Filipina”, Hagedorn said.
Earlier,
the City Council led by Vice Mayor Lucilo Bayron approved the
resolution authorizing Hagedorn to enter a memorandum of agreement for
sponsorship between the city government and Mutya ng Pilipinas
Incorporated (MPI).
The said measure is in support to the vision of Hagedorn to promote tourism industry in the city.
Councilor
Feliberto Oliveros said that being the host of the event is considered
a big achievement for the city mayor who wants the city to become the
No. 1 tourist destination and sports capital of the Philippines.
Beauty
contestants will vie for the titles Mutya ng Pilippinas International,
Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism Puerto Princesa and Mutya ng Pilipinas
Overseas Communities.
They
will represent the country in international contests such as Miss Asia
Pacific International, Miss International, Tourism Queen of the Year
