NCRFW joins 2008 National Statistics Month celebration
MANILA,
Oct. 5 (PNA) – The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women
(NCRFW), the government’s machinery for women’s advancement, joins the
celebration of the 19th National Statistics Month (NSM).
NCRFW
as the chair of the inter-agency committee on gender statistics
(NCRFW), advocates for the generation of accurate sex disaggregated
data and other gender indicators that are valuable in the government’s
decision making, crafting of policies for Filipino women and men, and
monitoring of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
This

Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development.” The celebration highlights the
role of statistics in business promotion and development, specifically
in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The celebration is
aimed to “promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of
the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of
society.”
The celebration’s opening ceremonies were held Friday at the Megatrade Conference Center in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
NCRFW
Chairperson Myrna T. Yao said sex disaggregated data is important in
ensuring that women microentrepreneurs have access to financing
resources, training, opportunities and other services.
The
NCRFW is currently implementing the the Gender-Responsive Economic
Actions for the Transformation of Women or the GREAT Women Project, the
agency's main contribution to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s
Ten-Point Agenda, with support from the Canadian International
Development Agency (CIDA).

friendlier business environment for women in microenterprises, in order
to improve their quality of life and contribute to the attainment of
