PGMA pays tribute to RP’s successful women entrepreneurs, role models
MANILA,
Feb. 27 (PNA) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today paid tribute
to the role of women in nation-building during the launching of the
third book of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship-Go Negosyo
Thursday night at the National Bookstore at the Rockwell Power Plant
Mall in Makati City.
The
President, who returned to Malacanang yesterday after a two-day visit
to Davao del Sur and Cagayan de Oro City, motored to the Rockwell Power
Plant Mall to lead the formal launching of Go Negosyo’s latest book
which features Joey Concepcion’s 55 inspiring stories about women
entrepreneurs.
The
latest Go Negosyo edition, which highlights the inspiring role of
Filipino women as role models and entrepreneurs, was launched ahead of
the annual celebration of Women’s Month on March 8.
Upon her arrival at the mall, the President had a photo session and book-signing with the successful women entrepreneurs.
In
his welcome remarks, Presidential Consultant for Entrepreneurship and
Go Negosyo founding Trustee Joey Concepcion said the 55 carefully
selected success stories of women entrepreneurs cover such fields and
industries as fashion, tourism, health and beauty, among others.
The successful women entrepreneurs come from diverse backgrounds and social classes, he added.
The
book features both micro- and large-scale women entrepreneurs,
including Zenaida Tantoco of Rustan’s; Milagros Yee and Clarita Go of
Goldilocks; Elizabeth Lee of Universal Motors Corporation; Vivian
Sarabia of Sarabia Optical; Gladys Reyes of KSA Magic, and Jennilyn
Antonio of Ehje’s Peanut Butter, all of whom “serve as mentors,
bringing into their leadership the essence of womanhood.”
Go
Negosyo has already come up with two previous editions on
entrepreneurship. The first, “Go Negosyo’s Inspiring Entrepreneurial
Stories,” topped the bestseller list in the non-fiction category of the
National Bookstore.
The
volume was followed by another blockbuster, “Go Negosyo’s Inspiring
Entrepreneurial Stories Celebrity Edition,” which also joined the list
of National Bookstore’s Top Four Bestsellers.

Concepcion’s 55 Inspiring Stories of Women Entrepreneurs, is now
available in leading bookstores nationwide at P280 per copy.
In
celebrating this year’s National Women’s Month, Go Negosyo will also
stage “GO NEGOSYO: Babae, Yaman Ka ng Bayan.” This will be the biggest
women entrepreneurship event of the year, Concepcion said.
