RP urologists slate mid-year convention in Naga city
NAGA CITY, Nov. 16 (PNA)-- The City Government of Naga formally announced the holding of the midyear convention of the Philippine Urological Association (PUA) on April 16 to 18, 2009,in this city.
Mayor Jesse M. Robredo said one of the most prestigious groups of the Philippine Medical Association, the association of the country’s top urologists will be converging for the first time in Bicol region.
Robredo invited earlier the specialized medical group, through Dr. Ronnie Ursua and Dr. Freddie Sy, two of the respected urologists in the city, to hold their next convention in Naga city.
“With more national events already lined up for its calendar of activities for the first quarter of next year alone.”
This year urologists national convention was held in Cebu City.
Ursua said the urologist association’s midyear convention is traditionally attended by some 300 to 350 members. “But the doctor-delegates usually take along their wives and children during the 3-day meet.”
“The total number of visitors could reach to as much as 600 to 700, not including the representatives of drug companies that usually make their presence felt during similar important medical conventions,” he added.
Robredo has tasked the Naga City Visitors Center to coordinate with the PUA regarding accommodation, convention site, entertainment, and local tours to make the convention truly memorable and successful.
The organizers have chosen Avenue Plaza Hotel as the main venue and billeting hotel, with spill-over guests to be accommodated by the other top hotels in the city, such as Villa Caceres Hotel, Crown Hotel, and Naga Regent Hotel.
The Camarines Sur Watersports Complex (CWC) has been included as a tourist and pleasure destination for the guests and their families and the Butanding interaction in Donsol, Sorsogon.
Big-ticket events have been slated to be held in Naga, which is dubbed as “Bicol premier convention hub”, in the month of April 2009.
Moreover, the city will be hosting the 2009 Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Meet which will draw some 3,500 student-athletes from private schools, colleges and universities throughout the country, on April 19 t0 26, 2009.
The Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), this year’s most outstanding business chamber in the country, will be staging its 5th Bicol Business Week at Plaza Quezon and Plaza Rizal here, on April 25 to May 2, 2009.
The Naga City Government will be hosting the two-day opening ceremonies of the National Heritage Month which will be held in collaboration with the National Council for Culture and the Arts, the National Historical Institute, and the Filipino Heritage Foundation, Inc.
This event will also mark the formal unveiling of the multi-million peso monument at the soon-to-be restored Plaza de Ciudad de Caceres on April 29 to 30, 2009. (PNA)
