8-year old girl cited by SBMA for honesty

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Sept. 23 (PNA) — The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) recently commended an eight-year old girl for her honesty traits that the agency has adopted as among its core values.

In a simple ceremony attended by SBMA employees and members of the Subic Bay Freeport community, SBMA Administrator Armand Arreza cited Rovie Danielle Oregas of Barangay Gordon Heights in Olongapo City as "a worthy example to every member of our community."

Rovie Danielle was among hundreds of spectators who watched the PNP Subic Marathon on September 7, when she found an expensive digital camera at the Subic Bay gymnasium.

Without knowing who the owner was, the girl promptly turned over the expensive equipment to event organizers, Arreza said.

"Here's one story of everyday heroism that should be an example to all," Arreza told SBMA workers.

"Doing good deeds is indeed a great equalizer. As you can see, even a youngster can do it," he added.

For her honesty, the SBMA formally recognized Rovie Danielle with a certificate of commendation signed by Arreza, SBMA business development deputy administrator Raul Marcelo, and SBMA Chairman Feliciano Salonga.

Arreza also gave the girl, who studies at the Olongapo City Elementary School, a token cash gift that she can use for her school needs.

The SBMA citation said Rovie Danielle's "most admirable deed embodies the ideal traits of honesty and is a worthy example to the young and old alike."

"To her and her generation of Filipinos, we, the SBMA family, dedicate our every effort toward building a future they richly deserve," the citation added. (PNA)
